Aims & Objectives

  • To promote the social welfare of its members, their families, their children for the promotion of moral, cultural, educational and physical improvement.
  • To arrange, maintain and build Community Centre, Club, Parks, Library Reading Room, etc.
  • To undertake other measures & designs to encourage in members the spirit and practice of thrift, self help and mutual help.
  • To carry out all kinds of work relief of poor, educational and medical relief, and for the advancement of objects of general public utility not involving the carrying on of any activity for profit.
  • To do all such things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of any or all of the above objects.
  • To induce a feeling of closeness amongst Ex- Planters and all those associated with Tea / Coffee and have shared similar experiences in Tea / Coffee and come to each others help at the time of need.
  • To publish a Newsletter for circulation giving an account of activities.
  • To all the incomes, earnings, moveable or immovable properties of the Society be solely utilised and applied towards the promotion of the aims and objects.

Communications

The PWA through its Newsletter to its Members keeps in touch about the Welfare of its community Members and has created a ” Corps des Esprit” amongst them. Relevant information is also coordinated with Members. Individual Members are encouraged to donate and distribute clothes etc. to needy organisations like Cheshire Homes, CRY, etc.

  • Periodic audit of the activities of the. PWA are monitored by the Managing Committee and regular AGM’s are held with yearly statutory audit of Accounts.
  • Regular periodic ( contributed) Committee Meetings and Members Socials are scheduled to enable administration and inter action.
  • Members are once again reminded to send in their experiences, incidents, anecdotes, poetry, etc. to liven up the Newsletter. We have been requested by the Assam Directory Publishers to send in a synopsis of our Profile and activities for publishing in their Directory and the Assam Review and Tea News. This has already been done. We hope it shall accord the Association publicity, which it deserves.
  • We would like to request our Members to chip in and encourage new Members to join us by networking. We shall successfully achieve wider publicity for the cause.

Summing- up

The task which has been taken on is awesome for a non-profit making body. It is a on going process by a body of like minded people from the profession. Increasing membership to increase our fraternity. We hope to achieve our objectives over a period of time.
The PWA was founded with a view to create a lasting and permanent body, which could sustain with the active participation of members to achieve its aims and objectives for the benefit of the fraternity. We are also endeavouring to create awareness of the necessity of bonding” amongst the children of Members to have continuity. The AGM held in the year 1997 approved Associate membership to the members children was attained the age of 21 years. They had no votings rights. In the subsequent AGM held approved that children of planters (First generation) will be granted membership with full voting rights.
